Marisa Joyce

Marisa joined Higuera & VanDerhoef PLLC as an associate attorney in 2019. She previously served as an Attorney Advisor with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review in Los Angeles. She received her undergraduate degree from Loyola University Chicago, and her law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. While in law school, she represented immigrants at the UT immigration clinic and Catholic Charities, and defended immigrant rights while working at the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
Before becoming an attorney, Marisa worked as a paralegal in Chicago and was an AmeriCorps member at Posada Esperanza, a shelter for immigrant women and children in Austin, Texas. She also lived for a year in Cuenca, Ecuador and speaks Spanish. Marisa is licensed to practice law in Washington, and is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild. |
