Kristin Kyrka

Kristin Kyrka joined Higuera & VanDerhoef PLLC as an associate attorney in 2016. She received her B.A. from Wesleyan University (Connecticut) and her law degree from the University of Washington School of Law. During law school, Kristin worked with the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and the Washington Defender Association’s Immigration Project, and she served as a migrant farm worker advocate in Eastern Washington with Columbia Legal Services. Kristin has experience representing immigrants in a wide variety of matters, and her practice has focused on removal (deportation) defense and representing immigrant detainees facing removal at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington.

Kristin is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the Washington chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild. She is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Kristin serves as a pro bono attorney with the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project through the Immigrant Families Advocacy Project (IFAP) and as a volunteer for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Citizenship Day events. She volunteers on several committees for AILA’s Washington chapter and most recently served as the chair for the asylum liaison committee. Kristin speaks fluent Spanish.
