Meghan Casey

Meghan has been practicing immigration law since 2012. She obtained her B.A. from Boston College and
her law degree from Seattle University School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in Washington
State, as well as before the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and
Federal Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.


Before joining Higuera & Vanderhoef PLLC, she spent more than eight years as an attorney with the
Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP), including over six years as a supervising attorney in
Tacoma and Seattle. She has experience representing immigrant clients in diverse array of immigration
cases, with a focus on removal defense, family, and humanitarian relief. Meghan served immigrant
detainees at the (former) Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington, through both
representation and assistance through the Legal Orientation Program (LOP). She has also worked
extensively with unaccompanied immigrant children and their families in both state court and before
immigration agencies. Statewide, she has presented on immigration topics, and participated in
legislative and litigation advocacy on immigration matters.


Meghan is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Washinton State Bar
Association (WSBA), and teaches as an Adjunct at Seattle University School of Law. She is fluent in
Spanish. In her free time, she loves traveling internationally, exploring the Pacific Northwest, and
spending time with her husband and two children.
